Recommendations for the elements lithium

Li - ion batteries are now essential in energy storage. Their high energy density gives them advantages well-known in terms of weight and volume. Other assets such as life in cycling, their low self-discharge to develop many applications. Thanks to our partners in Lithium ion, we have access to a very wide range of cells, as well as full technical support. Several technologies are available (LiFePO4...) each with their specific features and benefits.

Foreword

Our products are not the object of specific provisions against contamination. If necessary, these operations are the responsibility of the Integrator.

Definitions

The term "stack" refers to the (Non-rechargeable) Lithium batteries.
'Accumulator' means the batteries Li - Ion and battery.
The term 'battery' means in this document an assemblage of batteries.

Safety instructions for the use of lithium-ion batteries

The cells contain flammable products such as organic solvents. If the lithium-ion battery is poorly managed, this can cause a fire, the smoke or an explosion and the battery performance will be seriously damaged.

Bans for Lithium batteries

  • Immersion of the batteries in a liquid (water),
  • Use of batteries lithium-ion battery to temperatures > 60 ° C,.
  • Do not use unauthorized, chargers
  • Do not force a reverse charge or a reversal of connections,
  • Do not connect the battery to a power outlet or to an outlet cigarette lighter,
  • Not fit the battery to applications other than those planned,
  • Keep the battery away from a source of heat and fire,
  • Do not short circuit,
  • Avoid any impact on the battery,
  • Do not pierce the battery or crush him,
  • Nothing directly solder the battery,
  • Do not disassemble the battery,
  • Do not charge the battery near a heat source,
  • Do not use a battery with signs of damage or visible deformations,
  • Do not reverse the polarity (and contacts).

Safety instructions

  • Keep away from children (ingestion),
  • Do not put the battery in a microwave oven or any other kitchen appliance,
  • Do not mix batteries to avoid any short-circuit,
  • Do not use abnormal battery (deformation, color, smell)
  • Stop the charge if the charging process ends
  • Do not use a battery that is leaking,
  • Do not touch a battery leaking without protections,
  • Pack the battery correctly for transport (ADR, IMDG or IATA instructions).

Precautions for use of your battery

Use under the Sun
Do not leave the battery near a heat source such as in a car in the Sun. The battery could catch fire, emit smoke, explode or cause a strong generation of heat. The characteristics of the battery and its lifetime could be degraded.

Static electricity
The battery contains an electronic circuit. Do not use the battery in a place where static electricity is generated. This might degrade the protection circuit. If the protection circuit is damaged, the battery could catch fire, emit smoke, explode or cause a strong generation of heat.

Temperature load
Temperature load must be regulated between 0 ° C and 45 ° C. Do not charge the battery outside the specified temperature range. Otherwise, it could cause a strong increase in heat, leaks or damage. The characteristics of the battery and its lifetime could be degraded.

First use
Contact Batteries4pro if the battery has a suspicious smell, a warm-up or corrosion on first use.

Use by children
It is the responsibility of the parents to explain the use of the system and battery to the children. Check regularly that children use the system and the battery correctly.

Flammable materials
Keep the battery away from flammable materials during charge and discharge. The battery could catch fire, emit smoke, explode or cause a strong generation of heat.

Leak
If the battery leaks and that the liquid comes in contact with the skin or clothing, rinse with clear water. Otherwise this could cause irritation.

Insulation
If cables or metal parts out of the battery, isolate them completely. Otherwise, the battery may be short-circuited, catch fire, emit smoke, explode or cause a strong generation of heat.

Battery recycling

  • Recycle the battery in accordance with local rules and legislation after use,
  • Never throw away in household waste or in nature,
  • Do not incinerate,
  • Any accumulator must be collected for recycling or destruction,
  • The pictogram of the barred dustbin indicates that the product must be the subject of a sort.
  • Batteries4pro has implemented a system of site collection and recycling as part of its commitment in sustainable development. For being discarded in safety, protect circuits used accumulators by asking an insulating adhesive on the terminals (+) and (-).

Instructions to charge for Lithium Ion batteries

Charger must integrate surge protection so that the output voltage does not exceed x 4.3V Ns and protection on current to avoid that the output current exceeds the normal charge current the charger failure.

Instructions to charge for Lithium iron Phosphate (LFP or LiFePO4) batteries

Charger must integrate surge protection so that the output voltage does not exceed 3.8V x Ns and protection on current to avoid that the output current exceeds the normal charge current the charger failure.

Discharge for Lithium Ion and LFP batteries instructions

  • Discharge temperature: between-20 ° C and + 60 ° C (variable based on the cell)
  • Discharge current: discharge current must not exceed the maximum current of discharge of the battery. This value is stated on the label.
  •  Discharge cutoff: the discharge cut must be greater than 2.75v per cell.
  • On discharge: the battery incorporates a protection circuit against the discharge. The cutoff threshold is set lower at 2.75v cell voltage.
  • Design of the application and the charger: battery should be away from any source of heat generated by electronic components in order to not degrade its performance.
  • State of charge on delivery: European legislation we forced to ship them and deliver them with a residual State of charge about 30%. This level allows a very variable storage (2 to 6 months) at a temperature below 25 ° C. This level is the departure of Batteries4pro condition, but not necessarily at reception at the customer level. It is up to the client to set up the verification process of State of charge on delivery then the regular charging process.

Conditions of storage of Lithium Ion and LFP batteries

  • Temperature and humidity: the batteries must be stored in a stable environment with low humidity (less than 70% RH), away from corrosive gases, an ambient temperature range between - 20 c and + 40 c. The climate variations can increase self discharge batteries and therefore reduce their storage without recharging.
  •  Long-term storage: the Lithium batteries must be stored in a stable environment with low humidity (less than 70% RH), away from corrosive gases, an ambient temperature range between - 20 c and + 20 c. It is up to the client to implement the charge status verification process in order to avoid a deep discharge state that is irreparable. Batteries4pro recommends an average support level for a long period of storage (about 60%) and a periodicity of regular status check (every 2 months).

Warranty exemptions

  • Batteries4pro is not responsible for damages which are caused by violations of the precautions of this specification.
  • Batteries4pro is not responsible for problems caused by defects in application design and / or Chargers.
  • Batteries4pro will not accept to take under guarantee of the batteries that have not complied with the instructions in this sheet of recommendation.

Other remarks

If there are misunderstandings in this instructions sheet, Batteries4pro will take your comments into consideration.
Batteries4pro can exchange data or precautions that are not described in this instruction sheet.

Warranty period for the battery

The warranty period is defined by our terms and conditions. Batteries4pro will replace the batteries if it is established that there is a defect in our manufacturing process and that the battery has been used wisely according to the specification of the application.

Security requirements of the battery

To ensure the safety of the battery, contact your sales Batteries4pro to discuss the design of the application of a mechanical, electrical and electronic point of view. If your application or device must satisfy special conditions (strong current appeal, transitional effects, approvals, forced CEM...) or a special application, contact your sales Batteries4pro to check or / and define the specification of the battery.
