Comparison of Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, Li-ion batteries
Published on 04/11/2014
Density of energy compared to the weight
Lithium-Ion batteries have a higher energy density and therefore weigh for a comparable power, up to 60% less than traditional batteries (NiCd/NiMH).
Memory effect
In the case of NiCd batteries, a discontinuous load may result in loss of sustainable capacity by 30%.
This effect does not occur with Lithium-Ion batteries. The Lithium-Ion battery can be charged at any moment regardless of the level of load, without damaging the cells.
Self-discharge
Charged NiMH batteries block lose already 50% of their power after about 4 months of non-use.
A fully charged Lithium-Ion battery is fully operational, even after months of non-use.
The loss of 0.1% per day capacity is extremely low.
