The original YUASA motorcycle batteries are on Batteries4pro
Published on 02/26/2016
Yuasa is world leader in the design and manufacture of batteries for motorcycles which are about 90% of the bikes coming out of factory. Yuasa has provided more battery manufacturers (such as Buell, Cannondale, Harley, Honda, Kawasaki, Piaggio, Suzuki, Aprilia, etc.) that all the other manufacturers of batteries together.
YUASA Maintenance Free motorcycle battery
High performance maintenance free batteries MF are batteries ideal for applications requiring high power.
VRLA (valve regulated lead-acid) batteries are ideal for people who have better to do than to maintain a battery! Our sealed VRLA battery in a way never permanent need to be filled, but she still needs to be charged regularly. It is ideal for motorcycles, scooters, mowers, and personal watercraft.
- Design leak
- Advanced lead-calcium technology stimulates the starting power
- Delayed plate sulfation that slowly destroys the battery, through a special chemical formula called «Sulphate Stop». This greatly reduces the accumulation of Crystal on the plates of cells and increases the life of the battery.
- Batteries high performance without maintenance of Yuasa will last up to three times longer than conventional batteries
- Their vibration resistance is Yuasa batteries most reliable batteries from the market at the present time
- VRLA batteries maintain their tension longer and need to be charged less often in standby mode or during storage
YUASA Yumicron range
Motorcycles, the jet skis, snowmobiles and quads have special requirements and the YUASA Yumicron battery respond directly. Thanks to its high-tech design of stimulation of power, battery YuMicron is ideal for tourism motorcycles loaded with accessories and modified vehicles.
- Sturdy glass fibres are resistant to damage caused by vibration
- Special end separator contains additional plates, and provides up to 30% power start-up than conventional types
- The intercellular connector through the wall minimizes the internal resistance and optimizes the power
- The Sulphate Stop function reduces plate sulfation and prolongs life
How to prepare your battery
Choose the proper battery for your vehicle, how to install it and maintain it for optimum performance and maximum durability, everything is explained in this video!
How to change and prepare your battery by YuasaMoto
- Check that the battery has the proper polarity for the vehicle.
- Make sure the battery is the correct height for the vehicle. (If a battery is too high, it can touch the cover or bottom of a seat, or it may damage the cover).
- It is recommended to place the old and the new battery side-by-side to compare the polarities, restraints, and performance levels. Some batteries are equipped with restraint on both sides and at the ends. Only those used to attach the battery to the vehicle must be checked.
- Check that the battery is clean and dry.
- Check that the drain plugs or collectors are in place.
- Verify that the battery voltage is greater than 12,40 V. If this is not the case, charge the battery or use another whose voltage is greater than 12,40 V.
- Make sure that the 2 terminals caps are still in place at this stage.
Preparation of the vehicle
- On the battery holder, remove all elements that may damage the battery. (Placing a battery heavy on gravel cutting risk of puncture the bottom of the battery).
- Verify that the connectors, the clamps and support are clean and not corroded. (Hot water instantly removes corrosion). In the event of severe corrosion that may affect the stability of the battery or affecting other parts of the engine compartment, check the vehicle by an authorized dealer.
- Check that the alternator belt tension is adequate. Consult the vehicle manual or the maintenance manual.
- It is recommended to check the electrical system, and in particular the charging system of the vehicle to ensure that it operates correctly. Consult the vehicle manual or the maintenance manual.
Installing the battery
- Install and tighten the clamps. They must be sufficiently tight to maintain the battery so that it does not move. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
- Connect first the connector under voltage at the terminal of adequate battery (usually positive) after removing the Terminal Cap. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
- Connect the grounding connector to the terminal after removing the Terminal Cap. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
- Place the 2 caps of Terminal on the old battery removed from the vehicle to prevent the risk of short circuits.
- Replace on the new battery components from the old battery, such as exhaust pipes, exhaust elbows, the Terminal covers, tape mounting removable (gadgets), etc.
- The use of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) is not necessary on modern batteries in polypropylene, but its use has no downside. Lightly coat the terminals. It is still recommended for hard rubber batteries. Do not grease.
- Remove the CMS.
- Start the engine.
- For non-automotive applications, install the battery in accordance with the recommendations of the supplier of the equipment.
Storage of batteries
If the vehicle is stored or little used, disconnect the cable from the battery in order to avoid the loss of power of the electrical equipment. Check the battery every month (for classical types) and every three months for AGM batteries. If the open circuit voltage indicates a level of low charge, charge the battery. Temperatures lower than 15 ° C or above at 25 ° C may require inspection and/or a load more frequent (s).
The gel does not represent a problem if the battery is fully charged. However, if the battery is discharged (and acid in the electrolyte becomes primarily water), the electrolyte will freeze.
